Product Description
This interactive and engaging lesson is a complete resource to introduce your students to the States of Matter. Students will learn the properties of each state and be able to identify solids, liquids, and gases in no time!

This lesson is a PowerPoint file to be played as a slideshow for your students. There are several pages of activities and questions to keep students engaged and participating in the lesson. Because there are questions and answers on multiple slides, this PowerPoint has been equipped with clickable animations so that the answers are not shown right after the questions are asked.

For example: With one click of the mouse, the question is displayed. The students have as much time to think of answers and responses as necessary. With another click of the mouse, the answer is revealed underneath the question.

This is a great way to have students involved in their learning, and it is also a quick and easy assessment as you progress through the lesson.

I have added several worksheets to the end of this presentation for individual, group, or center work as well as an assessment to check for understanding.

Included in this presentation:
-an objective of what students will be learning/doing
-slides explaining matter, mass, and properties
-a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting properties of matter
-slides explaining the concept of “solids” with examples and graphics
-slides explaining the concept of “liquids” with examples and graphics
-slides explaining the concept of “gases” with examples and graphics
-key vocabulary words defined such as “volume” “balance” “temperature” etc.
-charts clearly stating properties of solids, liquids, and gases
-slides explaining/asking questions on how to measure solids, liquids, and gases
-checkpoint questions on solids
-checkpoint questions on liquids
-checkpoint questions on gases
-questions in which students must identify whether a solid, liquid, or gas is being described
-questions in which students must identify whether the given picture is a solid, liquid, or gas
Worksheets:
-a review quiz to be given aloud as a group or printed and administered individually (answer key included)
-a foldable activity (template and instructions included)
-3 Venn diagram activities where students can compare/contrast solids, liquids, and gases
-an activity where students fill in a chart with different solids, liquids, and gases
-an ice experiment activity that shows changes in the states of matter (you do the experiment for this activity)
--an ice experiment activity that shows changes in the states of matter (you do not have to do the experiment for this activity-pictures are included that show what would happen if you had done the experiment)
-a results/observation form for the ice experiment
