States of Matter activities include:

  • Raisins on the Move → Students will view a solid, liquid and gas and explain how they relate to one another (raisins in soda)
  • What State is It? → Students will determine which phase shaving cream is throughout a three day period
  • A Soapy State → How does the amount of molecules have an effect on soap
  • Soda Balloons → Illustrate how gas will expand to fill its container
  • Colorful State Changes → Observe how matter changes from one state to another with a change in temperature
  • Layers Matter → Determine how density can have an effect on liquids
  • Air You in There? → This activity will show how air takes up space, even underwater
  • Does Air Have Mass? Students will measure the mass of two objects to measure the amount of mass air has

❤️ Check out this feedback from happy teachers:❤️

  • This packet clearly lays out FOUR different experiments and makes them a breeze to teach in the middle school classroom. I love how much scientific background knowledge it included, and how clear it was to follow. → Four more activities have been included!! ←

  • Highly engaging activities for young scientists! Thank you for also including all the information a teacher could need on why the experiments work! : )

  • My 5th grade started these labs yesterday and loved them! Very self explanatory allowing them to work alone without needing to ask questions every 5 minutes. They were able to connect subject material to each of the labs they performed.

  • These are so fun! I'm always looking for engaging TBL activities I can use for ESL. Thank you!
