We create interactive science notebooks every year and they are definitely a work in progress! These are entry into our science notebooks when we study matter every year! The background information can be for the teacher only, or you can have students matchbook fold each one and glue them into their notebooks. First, students label the create the shutter foldable. We also use small chart stickers on the Molecule Arrangement page. There are two versions to choose from, both could be used with these stickers. Students then create the states of matter visual page by dipping an eraser into paint or an ink pad. We use the visual page as a quick assessment. You can also place the Background Information page behind the visual page. Students then complete the Pop Rocks labs in order to get an idea of states of matter and how they change. This science notebook pack is our introductory lesson to our much larger Matter science unit.
Our science notebooks are composition books, so I reduce each page to 80% when I copy them.
I will be posting more of these interactive science notebook packs as I make them, topic by topic. You will be able to purchase the ones that are appropriate to your students and your curriculum!
