PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a station and activity-based review of::
1. Double Negatives
2. Context Clues
3. Analogies

The Zip File Includes:
1. PDFs and Word files of all three stations. The stations materials are formatted and ready to print. (6 Documents in Total).
2. Student Materials that students fill out as they move from station to station. (PDF Teacher Copy, PDF Student Copy, Word File).

Details on Each Station:
1. Double Negatives:
Students are guided through notes that relate the concept to a math equation. Students view pictures and examples to reinforce the notes. Students "translate" 10 song lyrics to their intended meaning, then they complete 10 multiple-choice questions. In their class materials, they are focusing on analyzing what is incorrect about the distractors.
2. Context Clues:
Students review and take notes about the CAR method of finding context clues. In Part 1, students analyze how a picture's meaning is changed when the context, or the entire image is viewed, which allows students to define context. Then, students answer 10 multiple-choice questions. In Part 3, students write a pirate story where they have to define 5 words from a list using the CAR strategy. Finally, students read a passage and answer 5 multiple-choice questions.
3. Analogies:
Students work together to read through notes about analogies and the six different types of relationships we see most common in analogies (and examples). Then, students complete one or two words of an analogy from each relationship in Part II. In Part III, students write analogies as an "Ode to Summer" for each of the six relationships. Finally, they answer 7 multiple-choice analogy questions.

All answers to station questions are included in the Microsoft Comments of the Student Materials.

These are skills that students are able to easily navigate in groups and simply need content review and additional practice to increase mastery.
