There is new focus on statistics in the intermediate and middle grades. Students need to find measures of center and variability, and display data in a variety of ways.
This all starts with identifying and asking statistical questions!
In this sorting activity, students cut out 18 question cards. Half are statistical questions, and half are not. Students must sort the question cards and attach them on the chart, under the appropriate heading.
Student are required to provide justifications for at least two questions in each category.
There are also suggestions for the teacher, if you wish to provide extension activities after students finish sorting.
Enjoy! If you like this activity, be sure to follow me, to receive updates and new product notifications. And if you leave a few kind words in the Comments section, I would appreciate it! Thanks.
