For part of the Core Knowledge curriculum for Kindergarten, we have to teach about various sculptures, including the Statue of Liberty. My students are always so interested in the topic, but it was hard to find quality non-fiction texts that really focused on the history of the monument.
I created this interactive e-book for Smart Notebook and Activinspire which has informational text about the monument, and also focuses on comprehension by asking various questions throughout the story! when they get the answer right, it cheers for them! This digital book for the smartboard is a ready to go lesson will help you to easily incorporate non-fiction text and technology into your common core classroom and will inspire your students to love informational text!
This interactive e-book talks about the Statue of Liberty. It introduces the history of the monument from it's original start in France, and talks about how the monument was transported to the United States. The book has so many pages of informational text detailing the importance of this monument. Your students are sure to love it!
