The following Discussion Circles Lesson can help you target the Speaking and Listening standards, pragmatics, and social skills in a focused, hierarchical approach. The lessons build, and set up a system for classroom conversations so that all students are on the same page and meeting the same expectations.

This lesson plan is an easy way to start push-in speech/language therapy lessons in the classroom. Speaking and listening skills are included in the standards. Students learn to listen to speakers with care, stay on topic, and use pragmatic language skills when talking to peers.
