This is a collection of ten colorful and visually attractive steady beat charts for common folk songs and chants that can be used to help students internalize the steady beat while singing.
I use these charts as part of our daily routine for my kindergarten and early 1st grade classes. Because this is a student led activity, I can choose a student to be the "beat keeper" (using a hand pointer) and the entire class is engaged while I quickly take attendance or if there is any disruption that I need to handle. Hyperlinked arrows embedded in each chart make it easy to quickly change songs preventing a loss of focus for students. This is also a good quick assessment on the steady beat.
Songs included are:
Frog in the Meadow
Naughty Kitty Cat
Starlight, Star Bright
Chants included are:
Bee, Bee, Bumblebee
I have also included a basic Heart Chart for use with any song. All charts are 8 beats, but I have included a repeat sign for those songs and chants with 16 beats. I kept it at 8 beats so that my kindergarteners are able to easily reach all icons when projected and yet everything is large enough for the entire class to see the images.
Thank you for considering my steady beat charts. I hope they are as useful to you as they are to me.
