Steal the Bacon is a fun and competitive game for upper elementary and even middle school students to practice reading rhythms. You could definitely use it with younger grades, but it is such a fun game, my recommendation it to save it for your upper elementary and middle school kids. Especially great for older beginners who are practicing half note.
Two teams compete to collect the most pieces of bacon for their team, but watch out! The other team may steal your bacon!
This set includes game instructions as well as 18 cards that can be printed, cut in half and laminated for long term use. Each card contains a four beat rhythm pattern. A rhythm list is included for teacher use as well as detailed game directions.
Hardest rhythm concept: ta-a (half note)
Other rhythmic concepts include: ta and titi, ta rest (notated both as "Z" and using standard notation)
* This set can be used with any system for reading rhythms. All rhythms are notated using rhythm stick notation.
