Stealing Freedom is novel by Eliza Carbone based on the true-life story of Ann Weems, a slave who reached freedom disguised as a boy. Carbone takes real people from Ann's life and weaves her story into a captivating adventure. Carbone's depiction of the life of a slave family in Maryland is authentic and heartfelt. This is a wonderful addition to any unit about slavery in America.
