This complete Stellaluna character and book study is loaded with activities, comprehension lessons, literacy centers and a fun, highly engaging-and kid-approved- 8-10 day pacing guide and lesson plan. Based on the delightful book, Stellaluna by Janell Cannon, the activities and included lessons focus on analyzing the main character, comparing the characters’ differing points of view, reading fluency, vocabulary, and deeper discussion and questioning of the story elements and text. As teachers, one of our main missions is to turn our readers into comprehenders. This book lends itself so well to that and is a teacher’s dream for teaching so many (included) ELA standards.
Studies show us that students who consistently write about what they read become better readers. We also want our students to talk about what they are reading. With this Stellaluna book study students discuss, summarize, respond, and write about the text and characters creating a culminating foldable booklet along the way. I've included whole group mini-lessons and class anchor chart examples as well as additional activities that can be used as literacy centers and in small groups.
(*Note: I have also included the summarizing pages with the Australian spelling-summarise, not shown in the preview.)
