A great way to introduce the present - tense stem changes (e - ie, o-ue, and u-ue) to your students! This powerpoint goes over the following verbs: empezar, comenzar, perder, querer, preferir, pensar, dormir, volver, devolver, poder, and jugar.

There is a set of slides for each of the verbs that gradually presents/shows their meaning (first with visuals, then English), different endings, and spelling changes. It also draws attention to / highlights the things students should pay special attention to. There is an example sentence for each with an opportunity for students to think about/answer before seeing it.

There are over 70 slides that each contain a unique sentence missing one of the verbs. In place, there is a picture to represent which verb it should be. There are many ways to use these, but I like to have my kids write their answers on whiteboards individually. There is also a slide with all the pictures to review before starting the activity (I like to do the flyswatter game with this first).

The same slides are repeated, only the second time without a picture. This is more challenging as students have to read the sentence for context and figure out the best choice. In some cases, there are a few possibilities (I always accept anything that works).

The sentence slides for the activity are in order by verb, but you are encouraged to move them around / change the order to fit your needs! Ideas are included in the Instructions at the beginning.

**I did include a slide for each verb that requires using the infinitive form (to review that a bit) and while vosotros is in the introduction slides (it is crossed out though), it is EXcluded from this activity portion.
