In every percents problem there are always three mathematical parts--the whole, the part, and the percent--two of which are used to solve for the third. In solving percents problems, students frequently struggle with identifying which parts they have and which part is missing. This student guide sets the student up for success in solving these problems by breaking them into three distinct types. It then provides the students with a structure for determining which type of percents problem they are working with, based upon what information they have and what information they are seeking. Once students identify the type of problem, this guide takes them through each step necessary to arrive at the answer.
This guide is helpful in solving all percents problems, particularly complex problems with multiple parts.
