Young students will learn how to draw a sketch with shapes, add details, and paint with visual texture as they create a teddy bear inspired by Don Freeman's classic, Corduroy.
This step by step powerpoint was designed for my 1st graders. I also include a link to my reading of the story on youtube and my practice sheet that you can print for students. This lesson also gives you the option to teach students to sew a button on the artwork or just tie a bow and glue a button. As an extra bonus, I've included my Corduroy Button song. I play it while the kids are painting to help them focus.
