Intervals can be challenging to teach no matter what the age level but this resource will really help to clarify the step (as well as higher/lower) system to students. It is practical for your younger students but also quite useful to teach the new students to your school who have not had the musical background as your other students. There are interactive questions in the slide presentation as well as 2 worksheets (one to determine higher vs lower and one to determine how many steps apart) to assess your students after using the visual presentation.
* This resource does not go into details (i.e. major/minor 2nd, perfect 4th) with the intervals but rather teaches students how to measure the distance between notes (2 steps, 3 steps) on the staff and to compare one to another (to determine higher vs lower).
