This is a making inferences activity sheet based on quotes from the novel Stepping on the Cracks.

Stepping on the Cracks is a great middle grades novel by Mary Downing Hahn about middle school age kids on the home front during World War II.

With the activity sheet, students make inferences to interpret or explain important lines from the story. In addition, students are asked to select a few quotes on their own to explain.

This activity supports reading standards including close reading to determine what the text says explicitly, making inferences, and using text-based evidence.

The Easel version is ready to use with answer boxes for students' answers.
