My students LOVE Super Star Sticker charts. I have been using them for the last four school years. This is definitely the most motivating thing I have found to get students to practice literacy and math skills at home without assigning worksheets for homework. Students keep their sticker charts in their take home notebook. They practice at home with their parents. I only test on Fridays. Mon.-Thurs I pull guided reading groups. On Friday, I pull each student to read their sticker chart. Parents initial the chart when they practice. Some students test with no signatures and that’s okay too. They practice in class with their friends. Once they get them all correct, I ask again out of order. For each one correct, they get a fun sticker. Once they complete a chart, the clears cheers for them, they get a new chart and get to go to the Star Jar for a treasure.
Skills covered include: All letters & sounds, sight words, 2D & 3D shapes, addition, subtraction, basic sentence reading, short paragraph reading, listening comprehension, deleting initial sounds, deleting ending sounds, numbers to 20, ten frames to 20, spelling common sight words.
