Teach one-to-one correspondence in PreK-K-1st grade the fun way! Buy any kind of small stickers so there are enough for 25 for each student (I use the stickers intended for pricing items at a garage sale -- at the dollar store, you can get enough of those for your whole class for a few dollars!). Have students put the stickers on the paper in rows of 5 and write the number for each sticker either on it or above/below it. This is a hands-on way to teach one-to-one correspondence. Lining up the stickers in rows of 5 helps the students organize the objects they count and also supports understanding of ten-frames.
