This activity allows students to experience the excitement of investing in the stock market so they can relate to the heady days of the Roaring Twenties. Students first learn Stock Market vocabulary and then "invest" in two companies, tracking them over a week on the stock exchange, and selling them off.
All instructions, handouts, tracking sheets and a reflection writing piece are included in this "game", which takes about 10 - 15 minutes/day over eight days, excluding the reflection on the Crash of 1929.
Students may be assessed according to their connection with the Stock Market activities in the 1920s and the Crash of '29.
This activity could be revised for general instruction about the stock market, introduction to stock market, etc.
