So I like to teach my students that cell phones are for more than just selfies and cat photos. This is a very low prep activity. Students just need cell phones or they can partner with someone. Computers work too.
I use this to try to drive home the relevance of stocks, and why folks bother to invest. Some popular companies/stocks (snapchat lol) may not be such a good example due to poor management. But Apple, Microsoft, and many other major companies are solid examples. Beyond Meat is a recent stock that has grown ridiculously.
Then do some math as a group. If you invested 100 how much would you return? 1000? 10,000? This also helps demonstrate the power of capital and having access to capital.
I use this during my unit for the Roaring 20's. I currently use a Jigsaw activity I think I found on TpT, but for my Title 1 students (who I love) some of the concepts are a bit dense and I have to re-engage and re-teach.
I know the image looks weird but its the same way for many of my powerpoints - during the actual presentation only one set of words come up at a time.
