This product is a Stock Market Simulation that can be completed in one or more class periods. This product also includes a set of reflection questions for students to answer after completing the activity. For this assignment I provide students with a list of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (included). Students then use the included form to list stock name, stock symbol, current price, and determine how many shares to purchase based on a set amount of money.
After students have completed part 1, I provide students with a computer/laptop so that they can look up the current prices and recompute their totals keeping the number of shares they purchased the same. I then have each group record the amount of money they have at the end of the simulation on the board to see who ended with the most money (largest capital gain).
The 2nd page of this activity asks questions that review capital gains and loses, diversification, and investing in the stock market.
