Product Description
In this one-day lesson, the students do a similar simulation to the Pie Game, but this time they are able to make more informed decisions about the companies they choose to invest in. Eight fictional companies are introduced, and, using their Excel sheet, students choose how much of their $3,000 to invest in each company. Students may choose to take risks, or have a more diversified portfolio. For the course of 12 "months" the stock market goes up or down, and reasons are given for why stock may rise or fall. And the end of the final month, a winner is declared, based on who earned the most money from their original investment.

This activity primes the students for the following lesson, which goes into great detail on vocabulary--which they are now more likely to understand and be interested in after the first two simulations.

Files include the student Excel sheet, the accompanying PowerPoint, and a teacher's "key" which allows the teacher to adjust the activity as needed. There is also a video designed for the teacher to explain how the game is played.
