Stoichiometry is such a vital skill when learning Chemistry, but many students are overwhelmed and make it much harder than it needs to be. This full lesson walks students through the basics of stoichiometry (mole to mole, gram to mole, mole to gram, and gram to gram) with step-by-step directions and guided notes.
Prior knowledge includes molar mass and mole conversions. Students should also be able to write balanced equations.
Students then practice their skills with a digital Google form-based "Escape Room." They must have each answer correct before going to the next one, which forces them to practice each skill very carefully and pay attention to detail. My concern with using some Escape rooms in the classroom is that many times they involve a lot of problem and puzzle solving, but less actual content. They may be fun, but they do not advance the curriculum. This "Escape room" is complete content, and is just a fun alternative to a worksheet. Students must get the answers correct based on their knowledge of stoichiometry, and by the end, they are familiar with how these problems should be set up.

Finally, there is a short 4 question quiz to assess that students have learned these important skills. There are two versions of the quiz to use in class, plus a third version as a re-quiz.
