This PPT was made to accompany the book, Stone Fox, by John Reynolds Gardiner. The PPT begins by introducing the students into the world of working dogs. Students will discuss the pros and cons of working dogs and then write an opinion piece.
For every 2 chapters, I have compiled vocabulary words, entry tickets, and exit tickets. The vocabulary slides are match up. you can either use a SmartBoard marker or a dry erase marker to draw the lines to match up the vocabulary words with their definitions. I have included an additional slide with more important words. On these slides, we chunk out the words and discuss their meanings.
The Before Reading Entry Tickets and the After Reading Exit Tickets can be used as discussions, quick writes, or journal entries.
To end the book, there is a long response question posed.
Skills covered are: predictions, inferencing, character traits, cause and effect, text evidence, and comprehension.
