Using the 25 Short Vowel Cards, children match and practice reading words used frequently in emergent text. When "Stop-Look-Listen Short Vowel" cards are used as a Tier 1 intervention, a child's progress may be monitored and documented by recording on a daily basis those words read smoothly and instantly. These cards may also be used with a document camera for whole group instruction.
