Use this game as a supplement to your Second Step Curriculum for 4th grade through 8th grade. Students can play in teams or individually, depending on the size of the group. Use any board game that has a start and end point (Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, etc) and game pieces with these cards. Roll a die, move your game piece, draw a card and read and answer the question. If the answer is correct, move the additional spaces shown on the card. There are four different types of cards - Speed Round, Name that Feeling, Go Through the Steps, and Signal or Calm Down Tool?
Speed Round: Name as many items indicated on the card as you can in the allotted time. (Time limits can be adapted depending on age/abilities)
Name that Feeling: Name how the person in the situation on the card is feeling. (Several correct answers.)
Go Through the Steps: Read the situation and write out or say what your stop signal, feelings and calm down tool would be.
Signal or Calm Down Tool?: Identify whether the example on the card is an example of a stop signal or a calm down tool.
