As a future speech pathologist I understand the importance of saving your voice, and due to a rowdy class that needed instructions continually repeated I had to design and implement these stop and go signs.
To save my voice I decided to make these Stop and Go signs.
I print, laminate and then attach them to a ruler with Stop on one side and Go on the other. I made them the same shape just for fun.
While I am giving a set of instructions, I show the children the Stop sign. After I have given a set of instructions I will turn the sign around so they know they can Go start the instructions.
I have noticed an improvement in listening and following instructions in less than a week.
I also use the Stop sign when children are demonstrating negative/undesirable behaviours. Rather than 'outing' them in front of the class, I can pick up the sign and any one doing the wrong things knows that they have been warned.
