Stoplight Writing was designed as an intervention tool for struggling writers. Students are instructed to think of writing words like a stoplight (green for the beginning sound, yellow for the vowel, and red for the ending sound). During small group instruction students are provided with the 3 color writing paper either laminated or in a dry erase pocket. Teachers help the students stretch the words and write the sounds. Friday, students are given an assessment with 5 words.
The packet includes a stoplight writing practice paper, 5 Friday intervention assessment papers, 5 short vowel posters, and 4 short vowel deskplates. This is perfect for data collection purposes.
