'Stories on a String' comes from the continent of South America and the Country of Brazil
This lesson will combine current events with a multi-cultural study, visual arts and literacy through learning about the Cordel Literature of Brazil. The lesson will provide the instructor with a powerpoint which demonstrates a step by step production of Cordel Literature for your students. It also includes the full lesson plan along with a youtube video, website for obtaining current events, and it was written using common core standards and objectives.
Below is a short excerpt from the lesson:
"Cordel Literature." The name of this art form comes from the the Portuguese word, Literatura de cordel, which means “string literature”. They called it this because these art works were little pages from books that were displayed from a string at a shop or market. This was done so that potential buyers could see all of the pages of these cute little books more closely before they made a purchase. We will call the Cordel Literature 'stories on a string.'
