Having just come through Hurricane Irma, I created a collection of activities designed to focus our attentions on the problem solving aspects of the storm. These 4 activities are designed to be used center style - each for a 30 minute rotation followed by 10 minutes of reflection. These activities can easily be applied to other storms - not just Irma.
Please Note: In our school community, the storm was the cause of downed trees, power outages, and street flooding. Most of us faced challenges that were very frustrating, costly, and exhausting, but were not life threatening. I would not use storm-centered classroom activities in a community where storms are a source of fear for students.
