True Feedom / La libertad verdadera
Begin the day with a story or incorporate this story as an additional resource to help students augment their vocabulary, literacy and fluency skills in either English or Spanish. Students can draw pictures of their favorite scenes and teachers can guide students through the vocabulary and comprehension/critical thinking questions in response to the theme and plot of the story.
True Feedom / La libertad verdadera is a story, (translated version included) with literacy based activities presented in both in both English and Spanish that can be used from grade levels (4th – 12th) in either English language development classes or in Spanish language classes. Each section includes 10 vocabulary development and 10 comprehension/critical thinking questions. I have also included a ‘Drawing Box’ where students can illustrate the image the story creates for each learner, thereby providing added evidence of comprehension.
True Feedom / La libertad verdadera is a story about a young boy, who during an airplane trip with a friend who flies him to Santa Rosa, CA, learns that physical prowess and perfection is not the most important factor in a person, but it is the inner, invisible aspect of a person that is essential. The ending of the story highlights the moral of perseverance and unconditional acceptance.
