These are simple square posters I created for my preschool/pre-k classroom available in a downloadable 11 page pdf file for you to print out and use. 5 have a color border & 5 have a blank border.
Each page allows the child/children to answer the questions on each poster. There is a description at the bottom of the page. The square leaves room for a photo or drawing of the book/section and anecdotes. This encourages the child to look for these details and recall specific aspects of the story.
Page 1: "Title/Author" - "This is the name of the story and who wrote it."
Page 2: "Who are the Characters?" - They are the people, animals, or things that take part in the story."
Page 3: "What is the Setting?" - "This is where and when the story takes place."
Page 4: "What is the Problem?" - "This is something that causes trouble for the character."
Page 5: "What is the Solution?" - "This is how the problem is solved in the story."
In my classroom, I had these laminated and the children can either draw/write on appropriate-sized paper to be taped on to each section or use a wipe-off marker. For older grades, you can print out the 5 pages for each child and create a booklet they can work on at home or in the classroom.
