Product Description
This resource uses four Native American themed picture books as mentor text. The books include: The Rough-Face Girl, Squanto's Journey, Cheyenne Again, and Thirteen Moons on Turtle's back. Find these in your local library, school library, or by using the links provided to purchase. Two books work on story elements such as characters, character traits, setting, theme, plot, and summary. The other two books work on the organization (lines and stanzas) and comprehension (story line) of poetry. Use the resources in a whole-group mini-lesson, small group intervention, review, or as an independent assignment to check for mastery.
Using the resources with the mentor texts incorporates Social Studies themes and standards into the Reading lessons.
