Story mapping promises to increase the reading comprehension and writing skills of English language learners. This presentation demonstrates how story maps are used to scaffold from the identification of basic story elements to writing literary analysis essays. Results and student samples are shared. The purpose of the presentation is to highlight the importance of elevating text interactions, such as story maps, from being basic worksheets to becoming working models of literary analysis.
