This resource is a great way to keep your students engaged in writing centers while you are conferencing with other students or working with small groups. I have created a few covers to add to spiral notebooks and some prompt cards to go along with them if your students need to get a jump-start on a few ideas. These Story Collection Covers are simple to assemble. Glue them onto a single subject spiral notebook and students are ready to write their own stories that their classmates can enjoy later in the year.
The included cards are basic words that can prompt writing ideas. Keep these cards in a zipper bag stapled to inside cover of the corresponding notebook. Students can pick a card and that can serve as the topic of the story. Another way you can use them is to have students choose 3 cards and they must use those words within their story. Students can also pick cards for each other to make it a bit more challenging.
