Description

Included are two fun small-group activities for students to practice brainstorming and creative fiction writing.

Activity 1 is a Two-Minute Story Pass activity in which small groups of students are given story starters and must pass their paper every two minutes as the group works to complete the stories. At the end, each group member reads their finished story aloud. This is a student favorite, and the results are often hilarious!

Activity 2 is a Story Prompt Pass activity in which small groups of students are given Mad Libs-type sheets to pass as they compile random and silly ideas to create a story prompt. Eventually, each student ends with a story prompt sheet full of their classmates' random ideas, and students are challenged to write a short fiction story that includes all of the elements on their prompt sheet.

The resource includes step-by-step teacher directions, a rules sheet for students, and all the worksheets you need to print and go!
