Dynamic narrative assessments using story retell can provide educators and speech-language pathologists with valuable information about a student's literacy skills and their ability to think through events.
Due to copyright laws, I cannot attach and sell the scripts I have created as my assessment tools. Choose a selection of books, wordless are best or cover up the words, and create a script for yourself. Use that script to tell the student the story, then have them retell the story to you. More directions are included on the score sheet.
This is a great way to quickly screen an entire class. If a student does poorly on the first story, give them the chance to retell another before you determine if there is an impairment.
