I use these templates for my writing component of Language Arts. Can be used for narrative, personal, opinion or non-fiction writing.
I print out DRAFT booklets on coloured paper to be used for the "first copy". This helps first graders distinguish between unedited and edited writing.
I print out PUBLISHED booklets on white paper to be used for the "good copy" - after editing. Final stories are bound with colored construction paper of their choice.
Students store DRAFT & PUBLISHED booklets in a colored folder with side pouches. Left side of the folder I write DRAFT on the pouch and the right side of the folder I write PUBLISHED on the pouch. This helps to keep student work organized.
The IDEA SHEET included is filled out prior to writing and approved by the teacher before actual writing begins. The sheet helps to generate ideas for writing and keep students focused on a topic.
Students are encouraged to share their published books with fellow classmates through AUTHOR'S CHAIR.
