I teach Pre-k, but this could definitely work in other grade levels as well. I use this for my focus story of the week. For my Prekinders we usually do title , Author and Illustrator day one. On day 2 we talk about the Authors purpose. I limited the options to two , but could definitely use persuasive as they get older, I also complete the setting, and characters. Day three is when I reread the story and point out all of the problems in the story. Then we will work together to complete the problem and solution part of our map. On day four we discuss the beginning , middle and end of the story. Day five we review.
