Strategic readers are active readers. Print these bookmarks for the students on your caseload or in your class, and they will serve as a visual cue to be active while reading. More specifically, they will remind students to visualize, question and clarify information, summarize, make inferences and predictions, identify connections, note reactions, and reflect upon and synthesize the text. Accordingly, these bookmarks encourage a variety of language skills, and they also provide helpful sentence starters to support oral expression or annotation. Finally, they are great for promoting carryover, as students take them home with them and could even be part of homework routines.
This document is a PDF. Four bookmarks are included on a single page.
