As a secondary teacher, I preach to my students simple strategies all of the time (as I'm sure you do!) to help them remember what we do for annotating a text, how we answer multiple choice questions, how we break down writing prompts and how we write our paragraphs. I made cards for each of those 4 strategies that can be used as bookmarks, or as desk cards.
For each strategy there are 2 per page.
RUMP (for multiple choice) comes in horizontal and vertical
ANNOTATION symbols (for close reading) comes in vertical only
S-E-R (for paragraph writing) comes in horizontal and vertical
W-W-F (for how to break down a writing prompt) comes in horizontal and vertical
The cards are all black and white so they are a huge ink saver! You can print them on regular white paper, or bright paper and laminate so they will last. I have laminated mine and then they are attached to the students' desk when we need them , as a little reference card.
If you have any questions, or if your school uses a little bit of a different acronym and you want me to edit it to reflect that for you, PLEASE reach out to me! I would be happy to do so.
The product is 2 PDF files zipped together. Open the HORIZONTAL cards first for extra information.
Are you a middle school or high school teacher? I'd love to connect!
