Students will learn first hand about factors that cause erosion with this lab. Materials needed per group: metal or disposable paint pan, sand, rubber tubing, water, textbooks and rocks. Students will build a stream table with sand and a paint pan. They will observe how the depth of the channel, shape of the channel, number of channels, slope of the stream, rocks or obstructions, and water speed all affect erosion. If you do not have multiple sinks available in your classroom this can be done as a demo and students can still fill out the lab worksheet.
