Though Tennessee Williams wrote this play in the 1940’s, his commentary on societal issues is timeless. For this project, students will make connections between social issues found in the play (rape, homosexuality, mental health, domestic violence, etc.) and an outside source that defends, challenges or qualifies Williams’ message. Students may use song lyrics, video clips, articles, poetry, etc to argue the connection between Williams' view of the issue and their own based on their chosen medium in an expository essay. This assignment meets Common Core and PARCC guidelines. Grading criteria is included.
