PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Students will learn to demolish their stress and anxiety with this comprehensive group counseling curriculum that can also be used for individual student counseling. This curriculum is designed for use with students as young as grade 3 up to grade 7.

Group Objectives:
To learn the definition of stress and its relation to anxiety
To learn about common stressors and identify own stressors
To recognize that stress comes in different sizes and can increase or decrease
To recognize that everyone has different stressors that can lead to different levels of stress
To understand the body’s reactions to stress and purpose of these reactions under stress
To identify own body’s responses to stress
To learn the relationship between thoughts and feelings
To identify the difference between negative and positive thoughts
To understand how thoughts determine feelings and guide behavior
To learn some common thinking traps
To identify own negative thoughts and thinking traps
To recognize the effects of negative thoughts on stress level
To identify positive thoughts to reduce stress
To recognize that positive thoughts are a choice
To recognize the difference between situations in and out of their control
To recognize that they have complete control over thoughts
To learn to use feelings as clues to identify negative thoughts
To learn and practice the 4F questions strategy to challenge worries and reduce stress
To practice replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts
To learn and practice deep breathing to reduce stress
To learn and practice being mindful to reduce stress
To learn and practice squeezing a fidget or muscles to reduce stress
To learn and practice visualization to reduce stress
To identify physical activities and exercise to reduce stress
To learn and practice journaling to reduce stress
To recognize how talking to an adult can help reduce stress and to identify trusted adults
To review coping strategies to reduce stress
To create own coping strategies booklet to refer to when feeling stressed
