ON SALE! REMOTE/HYBRID COMMENTS ADDED ON PGS. 24-28! This is a 5 step formula (plus 200+ sample comments!) for composing tactful, compassionate report card comments and progress report comments.

If you’re spending hours writing report card comments, obsessing over every word and trying (in vain) to find a way to tactfully describe problems and accurately describe the child’s successes and struggles...this solution will help you cut your comment time in half!!

You can skim through the tips in the PDF or listen to them in a 30 minute audio form to get yourself motivated and ready to begin. BY LISTENING TO THE AUDIO VERSION, you won’t have to read the instructions at all, and will be ready to sit down and begin writing!

Here’s what’s included in the 28 pages (condensed to save you paper and ink when printing!):

* Getting in the groove for writing & staying focused on what matters

* Tips for conveying difficult information via written comments

* Comment hacks and timesaving tips to simplify your work

* The B.A.N.D.S. formula for generating ANY report card comment

* The most effective, efficient system for completing report cards

* Sample comments for each of the 5 elements of the B.A.N.D.S. formula (200+ in total)

........ 1) Best attributes

........ 2) Areas of success

........ 3) Needs improvement

........ 4) Do this to help

........ 5) Supportive statement

* Bonus comments for students who are failing

* Bonus comments for content-specific summaries

Here’s how to use this system:

1) Read (or listen to) the initial tips for conveying difficult information and the time-saving tips to help you get in the right mindset for composing excellent comments as quickly as possible.

2) Follow the easy system described for batching your report card work, and generate comments by working through your class list according to student similarities rather than alphabetically.

3) Use the 5 step formula for each student’s comments, pulling from the sample wording suggested in the doc.

The end result? A positive, empathetic, and truthful set of comments that will be helpful for parents and facilitate their cooperation as you work together to help their children succeed...and you can accomplish that in half the time it would take for you to do this on your own!

If you are required to write written summaries of student progress in ANY form (including Child Study paperwork, intervention documentation, emails to parents, etc.), I think you will find that this system helps you compose those summaries of progress more efficiently and effectively.

As this resource does NOT address specific learning standards or academic expectations, it can be used for grades K-12. I'm making the full product available for preview so you can see why the system is versatile enough to work for EVERY teacher, no matter what or where you teach.

This is a great resource. I realized I unconsciously used a similar process, but this takes it to the next level. --T. Thompkins

This resource does NOT disappoint. I found it incredibly useful and empowering. My goal was to finish all of my report cards by tonight so that I could enjoy the Super Bowl tomorrow with my family, and I just sent my boss the email saying that I was all done. Thank you, Angela, for creating this for us! I hope everyone else finds it as useful as I did! -- Kristin S.

I found this helped me organize my thoughts better, and I ended up with what I felt were much better and more useful comments on the midyear report cards I just did. I have been teaching 31 years...I think this was the fastest I have ever completed comments! Thanks for the great strategy (and the sample comments)! --Erin M.
