This is a lesson on shrinks and stretches for the student who is entering functional notation and the transformations made by multiplying and dividing quantities. C. Pages 19-41 investigate how multiplied and divided quantities in functional notation stretch or shrink a graph. It is emphasized how a multiplication differs horizontally and vertically in y=x^2. In these investigations are a table of values and graphs drawn by a TI 84 graphing calculator of y=(3x)^2 and y=3x^2. The learner makes assumptions about division.
