This is a simple, but highly effective activity that could be used to help struggling students REALLY understand strip diagrams. Six simple problems, all using the same numbers, but fundamentally different math operations. With all the other matching games I have used, the numbers in the problem were different, and all my students merely matched the numbers without reading the problem and thinking.
So I created this. Great for a one day intro activity or clarification for strugglers.
Pages 1-2 are student word problems - can be printed front/back on one page.
Pages 3-4 may be printed on card stock and shared, or one copy for each student.
The key to this activity is to have students DRAW their own strip diagrams in the space provided after matching.
Activity will take 20-30 minutes, depending on where your students are.
