This is a 24 task card product designed to give students more practice understanding strip diagrams and their application to basic operations.
As we moved further into strip diagrams and relating equations to pictorial models, I needed something where my students could interact with these representations. Once students were comfortable with identifying the pieces of a strip diagram and what the part-part-whole concept entailed, I needed to see if they understood the connection between all three parts: the equation, the strip diagram and the application in a problem solving situation.
So, I created these strip diagrams/matching equations. I used these in parts. Students had 1 page or sometimes 2 to work on each day. I wanted the concept to really stick and the practice paid off.
My students grew more confident in relating all 3 essential parts. These cards would also work great in partners, groups as it would help facilitate the discussion in class.
