Description

Introduce your students to the main structural patterns (overall structure) found in both fiction and non-fiction texts (Chronological Order, Compare & Contrast, Problem & Solution, Cause & Effect). This learning pack contains posters, task cards, and graphic organizers.

Each poster introduces the structural pattern, has sentence frames to expand students vocabulary, and provides an example.

There are 24 task cards, one set for students to read and analyze, the other set is simplified to be used for sorting. The cards are available in color and black and white. The structural patterns covered include: cause & effect, compare & contrast, problem & solution, and chronological order.

Graphic organizers for each structural pattern allow students to record information from the task cards or can be used with other texts.
