Do you students ask you during literacy or math, "What should I be doing?" I get that all of the time in kindergarten. I created these structured schedule cards that are easy for students who cannot yet read or are beginning readers to use! These are also great for special education rooms.
The document is editable on Microsoft Word if you would like to change an image or something in the schedule. In my classroom we use these daily! They are made to fit perfectly in IKEA's Tolsby frames! THEY ARE ONLY $1!
I have 6 tables with 6 schedule cards at each. I write 1-6 on each card and ensure that no table's cards go in the same order or are on the same day. Students simply flip their card after the day is over and have their schedule for the next day.
We do one hour of Reader's Workshop and 30 minutes of Literacy Stations. My students know to do #1 for 15 minutes and when I ring the bell they do station #2. For math we do a whole group lesson and then do math station #1, when the bell rings they know to do station #2.
My students are independent with using these schedule cards after a very short period of time in kindergarten. It allows me to focus on helping students that need my support and knowing that each student is able to differentiate and do something different each day!
Please let me know if you have any further questions about how I use this wonderful resource!
